Privacy Policy

Summary

• The amounts you type into a calculator are processed in your browser and are not sent to us.
• We use two third-party analytics services, Cloudflare Web Analytics (page views, referrers, countries, page speed) and Microsoft Clarity (how pages are used: clicks, scrolling, and anonymised session replays). Neither records what you type into a calculator; the contact form is masked.
• Ads are served by Google AdSense, which uses cookies and may use your interests to personalise ads. You can opt out of personalised ads at Google.
• If you use the “save calculation” feature, the saved results stay in your own browser (local storage) and are never uploaded.
• If you contact us, we receive the name, email and message you send and use them only to reply.

1. Who we are

SalaryCalc (salarycalc.ca) is an independent website operated from Ontario, Canada that publishes free calculators. You can reach us through the contact page.

2. Calculator inputs

Every calculator runs as JavaScript in your browser. Hours, wages, salaries, prices and other figures you enter are used only to compute the result on your screen. They are not transmitted to our servers, stored by us, or shared with anyone. Clearing the page clears the inputs.

Some calculators offer a “save” button. Saved calculations are written to your browser’s local storage on your device only. We cannot see them, and deleting your browser data removes them.

3. Analytics

We do not run our own analytics database. To understand which calculators are useful and whether pages work properly we use:

• Cloudflare Web Analytics — counts page views, referrers, countries and page-speed metrics. It is cookie-less and does not profile individual visitors. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
• Microsoft Clarity — records how pages are used (where people click and scroll, and replays of sessions) so we can fix confusing layouts. Clarity sets first-party cookies to recognise a browser across pages, masks text typed into form fields by default, and we additionally mask the whole contact form. We also send Clarity a handful of named events (for example “result shown” and which calculator produced it) — never the amounts you entered. Microsoft may use the collected data as described in the Microsoft Privacy Statement. Session recordings are retained by Clarity for a limited period.

4. Advertising (Google AdSense)

We display ads through Google AdSense to fund the site. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies and similar technologies (including the DoubleClick/DART cookie) to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.

You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings or www.aboutads.info. How Google uses information from sites that use its services is described at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Third-party vendors and ad networks may also serve ads on this site. We do not control the cookies these vendors set; please review their own privacy policies.

5. Cookies and local storage

• Local storage — saved calculations, if you choose to save them.
• Analytics cookies — set by Microsoft Clarity (_clck, _clsk) to tie page views in one visit together.
• Advertising cookies — set by Google and its partners as described above.

We do not set cookies for logins or tracking of our own. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the calculators keep working without them.

6. Contact form

If you send a message through the contact page, your name, email address and message are forwarded to us so we can reply. We do not add you to any mailing list and we delete messages once the matter is closed.

7. Children

The site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

8. Your rights

Under Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA) and, where applicable, the GDPR, you may ask what personal information we hold about you and request its correction or deletion. The only personal information we normally hold is what you send through the contact form; analytics data is held by Cloudflare and Microsoft under their own policies. 9. Changes

We update this policy when our practices change and show the date at the top of the page.
