Work & Pay Calculators

Tools for the questions that come up on payday: how many hours did I work, how much is overtime, what am I owed for the holiday, is the vacation pay right, and does the gross on my stub add up. The universal tools are plain arithmetic and work anywhere; the Ontario tools apply the Employment Standards Act, 2000 exactly as written in the Ministry of Labour’s guide, with the rule and its source shown on every page.

A typical payday check, in order

  1. Timesheet — enter two weeks of in/out times to get hours per week.
  2. Overtime — anything over 44 hours in a week is paid at 1.5× (Ontario).
  3. Holiday pay — if a public holiday fell in the period: 4 weeks of wages ÷ 20.
  4. Vacation pay — 4% (or 6% after five years) if it is paid on every cheque.
  5. Gross pay checker — add it all up and compare with the stub.

Why Ontario only?

Employment standards are provincial, and the details differ: overtime starts at 40 hours in some provinces and 44 in Ontario; holiday pay formulas, vacation tiers and minimum wages all vary. Rather than apply Ontario’s numbers everywhere, each province is added only after its rules have been verified from its own government source. If you need another province, tell us — demand decides the order.
